Rust removal method for metal parts of electric forklift

Forklift manufacturers recommend rust removal methods for the surfaces of steel (ferrous metal) parts of electric forklifts. The surface of ferrous metals oxidizes and electrochemically in humid air to form a substance - rust. It can aggravate the corrosion of parts and must be removed during maintenance. The methods are:
(1) Mechanical rust removal. It is usually carried out with tools such as wire brushes, scrapers, and cloth. This method is easy to leave scratches on the surface of the workpiece and is only suitable for the surface of unimportant parts;
(2) Electric forklifts use chemical rust removal. Since the rust on the metal surface is alkaline, it reacts with acid to achieve a good rust removal effect.
Hydrochloric acid rust removal: Hydrochloric acid has a strong ability to dissolve rust. When the rust layer of the parts is evenly distributed, it is placed in 10% hydrochloric acid, and the rust layer quickly disappears or loosens. Since hydrochloric acid does not corrode steel strongly, the surface of the parts is relatively smooth after rust removal.
Electric forklifts can use phosphoric acid for rust removal: phosphoric acid can not only remove rust, but also react with metal to form a good protective layer on the surface, which has no corrosive effect on metal. However, the cost is relatively high, so forklift manufacturers only use it for important parts. Phosphoric acid rust removal can be carried out at a concentration of 2%~17% and a temperature of 80C.
For rust removal of electric forklifts, hydrochloric acid and phosphoric acid are harmful to human skin, so be careful when using them. Rust removal method for non-ferrous metal parts. The chemical rust removal method for non-ferrous metal parts is as follows: (1) Rust removal of aluminum and aluminum alloy parts. The formula of the rust removal liquid used: 80g (gram) of chromium, 1L (liter) of water, 200mL (milliliter) of phosphoric acid; temperature: 15C~30C; processing time: 5min10min; post-rust removal treatment: cold water rinse, then hot water rinse;
(2) Rust removal of copper parts of electric forklifts. Forklift manufacturers recommend the use of rust removal liquid formula: 0.5% sodium silicate, 95.5% water, 4% phosphoric acid; processing time: 10min~15min; post-rust removal treatment: cold water rinse, then hot water rinse.
